Lectio Divina, or daily seeings

Reading 230, from Dracula

” I am Dracula; and I bid you welcome, Mr. Harker, to my house. Come in; the night air is chill, and you must need to eat and rest.”…

Bram Stoker

My notes:

Notice the almost cheery tone of Dracula and the banality of his ways. Just a normal guy inviting another for some toast, tea or drinks, if one’s culture so allows. This is the way of evil. So ordinary that only time can reveal the real nature of events.

Literature is often more effective in representing evil for otherwise we might always keep missing the unholy which roams amidst us. Dracula is everyone who preys on others. Remember all those times when a pesky relative seems to draw our last bit of energy after an hour’s chat?

Thanks for the Image.
