Reading 137, from His Holiness, The Dalai Lama

Dalai Lama

…the transformation of mind and heart does not happen overnight but through a gradual process. Although it is true that in some cases instantaneous spiritual experiences may be possible, they are rather unreliable and somewhat shortlived…long-term spiritual transformation can really only come about through a gradual process of training and discipline…Whether the response of others is positive or negative, you must first create the ground for friendliness. If others still respond to you negatively after this, then you have the right to act accordingly.

The Dalai Lama’s Little Book of Wisdom

His Holiness the Dalai Lama

My notes:

I have always admired the head Lama. But now he must act on his own convictions. The Chinese are ruthless and will brook no resistance. Hundreds are being tortured and killed in Tibet. And the friendly overtures of the Dalai Lama have fallen to deaf ears. Should not the Tibetan youth rise in arms to rid Tibet of the Chinese? Jesus became the Lion of Judah when he overturned the tables of those in the Temple selling prayers. May be, we need a Buddha now who is militant and will settle China’s hash once forever. That religion which does not know controlled anger is worthless.

this line actually speaks for itself…Tibeteans should fight for it, and i don’t see a reason why Indian Govt. is banning them!!!

  2. Somehow I would disagree…. What Chinese Govt. are doing is absolutely wrong. However, raising voice through raising arms against it … is going against his own preaching… and to be honest… A man who cannot stand by his own words is fallible to be a leader … one must practice before he/she preach.

The present circumstance is intense, is cruel, in clearly unjustifiable… but I truly believe what goes around comes around…sooner or later…. every action matters… good or bad… some way … there will a time… The course of these actions will be encountered sooner or later…by the people who are responsible of this mess.

  3. My Apology. After reading more news I take my words back. It is injustice. Cruel Injustice. And the way India acted is not graceful at all. I think its about time they STAND UP for their right.

  4. Neetal, thanks for your posts…I am for peace fully, but sometimes we need to really show rage and anger…the Buddhist canon has deities representing rage…
